Emergency timetable on service 70 (Diss to Bury)

Due to an emergency road closure on the A143 to make repairs to a melted road, emergency timetables will be in operation on service 70 between Diss & Bury St Edmunds. There will be minimal through journeys available as a result of these changes. 

Services will operate primarily in two sections, with the below timetable covering services between Ixworth & Bury St Edmunds, including daytime runs to/from Diss.

The second section of route will operate between Diss & Stanton, with daytime connections available on service 73 from Bury St Edmunds.

THURSTON COLLEGE TRAVEL ADVICE:

In the morning, for journeys to college:

Students from Stanton will be collected by the 73A, which will have the additional capacity to take these students. Pickup from Stanton will be at roughly 07:50 to get to college. Any passengers east of Stanton will have to make their own way to Stanton to join the 73A bus from there. Existing 73A passengers between Garboldisham & Stanton will be collected as normal. 

Students from Ixworth will be collected on service 70A leaving at 08:06 and arriving at the college for 08:16. They could also get the 73A but with the diverted route may operate with delay and will have limited capacity.

Students from Bury should be at Bury Bus Station for 07:40, a bus will then pick them up and take them to Ixworth before then running into the college for 08:16. 

In the afternoon, for journeys back home from college:

Students to Stanton can board the 15:35 from Thurston College 73A to travel to Stanton, there will then be a 70 bus departing Stanton at 16:08 for onward travel to Botesdale/Wortham/Diss. Passengers on 73A to Garboldisham will continue to be dropped off as normal. 

They can also wait for the 17:01 from Thurston College 70A to take them to Ixworth where a smaller vehicle will then be waiting to take them onto Stanton and will drop off through Botesdale etc to Diss. 

Students to Ixworth can follow the above guidance on the 15:35 or 17:01 journeys for travel to Ixworth.

Students to Bury will need to catch the 15:31 70A from Thurston College directly into Bury, or they can catch the 17:01 bus to Ixworth which will then travel back to Bury to arrive there for roughly 17:35.
