Essex - Major Disruption to Service 12
Today

We've been informed that Radford Way in Billericay is due to be closed from Monday 23rd March until around Monday 18th May 2026. This is expected to cause significant disruption to Service 12 which operates between Billericay (Queens Park) and Wickford.
We have raised concerns about this closure and the expected impact with Essex County Council who fund the route and grant the roadworks permits in an attempt to find mitigation or a solution to lessen the disruption on bus passengers but unfortunately we've not received any constructive response.
Due to the nature of the closure, which is happening in two phases as summarised below, we expected severe delays to almost all journeys with short notice cancellations likely. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period.
Phase 1: March 23rd > April 19th
Service 12 will be unable to serve Radford Way towards Wickford. Buses will operate as normal towards Queens Park but will divert towards Wickford via Mountnessing Road and Western Road.
Buses will be unable to serve Billericay Station on journeys towards Wickford and passengers are recommended to use the stop named the Chequers on Billericay High Street. This is a 6 minute walk (approximately) from the Station. Alternatively passengers can board on the journey towards Queens Park and stay on for the return (at no extra cost).
Phase 2: April 20th > May 18th
Service 12 will be unable to serve Radford Way in either direction. Buses towards Queens Park will divert via Stock Road and Queens Park Avenue and buses towards Wickford will divert via Mountnessing Road and Western Road.
Buses will be unable to serve Billericay Station on journeys towards Wickford and passengers are recommended to use the stop named the Chequers on Billericay High Street. This is a 6 minute walk (approximately) from the Station.
During Phase 2 we will also be unable to serve the stops named Co-Op and Portman Drive on Queens Park Avenue. Passengers should use stops on Rosebay Avenue as an alternative.
