Essex - September 2024 Network Changes

From Monday 2nd of September were making some changes to our Essex and Hertfordshire networks centred around Hertford, Bishop's Stortford and Waltham Cross. Alongside this we're also introducing a brand new route on behalf of Thurrock County Council.
H5 - Hertford > Bengeo
- 1540 ex Hertford on weekdays is withdrawn and replaced by an additional H6 journey at 1535.
H6 - Hertford > Bengeo
- An additional journey is introduced on weekdays at 1535 replacing the withdrawn 1540 H5.
- All journeys after 1600 on weekdays will operate 5-15 minutes later throughout.

13 (13A, 13B) - Waltham Cross > Waltham Abbey > Epping > North Weald
A revised timetable is introduced on all days, with all weekday and most Saturday journeys extended through to North Weald (a very small number of Saturday evening journeys will terminate at Epping Station numbered 13B).
Buses between North Weald and Epping will operate in between Service 18 & 20 journeys to provide a combined frequency of generally every 15 minutes on weekdays (increasing to every 10 minutes during the morning peak).
Buses between Waltham Cross & Upshire Shops will combine with Service 15 to provide an every 30 minute frequency during core daytime hours.

14 (14X) - Waltham Cross > Waltham Abbey
Service 14 is reintroduced and will operate during peak times and evenings only providing additional journeys between Waltham Cross and Upshire Shops via Paternoster Hill. Some journeys towards Upshire Shops will not serve Highbridge Roundabout or Quaker Lane, these journeys will run numbered 14X.

15 (15A, 15B) - Waltham Cross > Waltham Abbey > Nazeing > Harlow
Service 15 replaces the current Service 505 with a more consistent route and an enhanced timetable seeing buses operate hourly for most of the day.
- The section of route between Harlow Bus Station, Harlow Train Station and Temple Fields is withdrawn. Alternatives journeys are available more regularly on Service 24.
- Saturday journeys within Harlow will follow the weekday route and will no longer serve Haydens Road.
- All Saturday journeys are extended from Waltham Abbey to Waltham Cross in line with weekday journeys.
- All weekday and Saturday journeys will now operate via Broomstick Hall Road, Ninefields, Upshire Shops and Paternoster Hill. Buses between Upshire Shops and Waltham Cross will generally operate in between Service 13 journeys to provide an even half hourly timetable.
- An additional number of weekday peak journeys will serve Katherines in Harlow. These journeys will be numbered 15A.

35 (35B, 35C) - Bishop's Stortford > Stanstead Abbotts > Hertford
A revised timetable is introduced on all days. In Bishop's Stortford most journeys are timed to provide a common frequency alongside Service 36 as far as Little Hadham.
- 0622 ex Bishop's Stortford on weekdays is renumbered 35C and is extended to start from the Parsonage Estate.
- 1835 35B ex Hertford on weekdays is retimed to operate 15 minutes later throughout departing at 1850.
- 1920 & 2020 35B journeys ex Hertford on weekdays are extended across the full route terminating at the Parsonage Estate. These journeys are renumbered 35C.
- All Saturday journeys from 0915 are retimed to operate 30 minutes later throughout.
- The 0738 Saturday journey ex Stanstead Abbotts is extended to start from Bishop's Stortford at 0700.
- Additional journey journeys are introduced in Bishop's Stortford on Saturday mornings at 0900 from the Interchange (35B to Hadham Park, Tesco) and from Hadham Park, Tesco at 0931 to the Interchange.

36 (36A) - Bishop's Stortford > Buntingford
Service 36 replaces Service 386 between Bishop's Stortford and Buntingford and will operate to a significantly enhanced timetable with buses generally operating hourly on weekdays and two hourly on Saturdays. Within Bishop's Stortford buses are rerouted and retimed to provide a common frequency with Service 35 as far as Little Hadham.
On weekdays buses will generally alternate two hourly between 36 and 36A.
36 journeys will operate via South Road in Puckeridge and then via Westmill Turn to/from Buntingford.
36A journeys will operate via Station Road in Puckeridge and then via Braughing, Dassels, Great Hormead and Hare Street to/from Buntingford. One 36A journey on weekdays will follow an alternative route within Bishop's Stortford to serve St Marys, BSHS, Anglo-European College and Birchwood High School.
On Saturdays most journeys will operate as Service 36.
Approx every other journey on weekdays and almost all Saturday journeys will offer a guaranteed connection with Service 37 in Buntingford for passengers continuing to Baldock, Hitchin, Letchworth and Stevenage.

37 - Stevenage > Letchworth > Hitchin > Baldock > Buntingford
Service 37 replaces Service 386 between Stevenage and Buntingford and will operate to an enhanced timetable with buses generally operating two hourly on all days. Almost all journeys will offer a guaranteed connection in Buntingford with Service 36 (36A) for passengers continuing through towards Bishop's Stortford.

38 (38A) - Stevenage > Tonwell > Hertford
Service 38 is the new number for Service 384. Service 383 journeys are renumbered 38A. There are no changes to the timetable or route.

306 - Wicken Bonhunt > Bishop's Stortford Schools
Service 306 is re-introduced on school weekdays only with one journey in each direction. This replaces the previous Stephensons of Essex 306 service. These journeys are primarily timed for school pupils but will be available to the general public.
A revised timetable will be introduced with a revised route within Bishop's Stortford to better match the school start and finish times.

375 - Horndon > Stanford > East Tilbury > West Tilbury > Grays
Service 375 is introduced in partnership with Thurrock Council to reinstate links lost with the previous withdrawals of Services 374 & 11.
Five return journeys will operate each Monday to Saturday.

812 - Gamlingay > Potton > Bassingbourn Village College
New service 812 is introduced on college weekdays only with one journey in each direction. These journeys are primarily timed for college pupils but will be available to the general public.

New service 813 is introduced on college weekdays only with one journey in each direction. These journeys are primarily timed for college pupils but will be available to the general public.

Service 836 is introduced on school weekdays only with one journey in each direction. These journeys are primarily timed for school pupils but will be available to the general public.

Fares
Alongside our timetable changes we're also making some changes to our fares on our Hertfordshire services. Single journeys will remain capped at £2, however we're withdrawing all return fares and introducing two new fare zones with day tickets and season passes introduced across the network.
Stevenage Zone
Our new Stevenage Zone tickets will offer unlimited travel across our services in the town as follows:
- SB6 - Full Route
- SB11 - Full Route
- Service 37 - Between Bus Station & Lister Hospital
- Service 38 - Between Bus Station & Pin Green
- Service 38A - Between Bus Station & Aston / Bragbury End

East Hertfordshire Zone
Our new East Hertfordshire Zone tickets will offer unlimited travel across all our services in Hertfordshire*
- SB6 & SB11 in Stevenage
- H1, H2, H3, H4, H5 & H6 in Hertford
- Services 35, 36, 37 & 38 between Stevenage, Hertford & Bishop's Stortford.
- Service 84B between Potters Bar & Barnet Hospital
- Service 25 between Harlow & Cheshunt, Brookfield Centre
- Service 242 on Sundays only between Waltham Cross & Welham Green (from 15th September)
