Service Changes - June 2024

5 months ago Wed 15th May 2024

From Sunday 2nd June we're making a small number of changes to our East of England and Essex operations as shown below:

Essex - Service 16 (16C) - Waltham Cross > Shernbroke Road (> Debden > Loughton)

Existing services 22 (Vectare) and 66A (Central Connect) will be combined and renumbered as Service 16. Sunday journeys extending to Debden & Loughton will show 16C. There will be a number of changes to the route and timetable to improve reliability:

  • The 1807 short journey from Highbridge Street to Waltham Cross on Saturdays (currently 22A) is withdrawn.
  • All Sunday journeys are retimed to better reflect traffic conditions along the route.
  • An additional journey from Waltham Abbey will operate on Sunday mornings providing an earlier arrival into Waltham Cross.
  • An additional journey will depart Waltham Cross at 1945 on Sundays as far as Shernbroke Road.
  • Buses towards Loughton will now run the opposite way around Ninefields and Paternoster Hill, in line with Monday-Saturday journeys on Routes 13 / 505 heading away from Waltham Cross.

There will also be some minor changes to fares with return tickets withdrawn and replaced by existing Vectare 'Abbey Zone' (Waltham Cross/Abbey), 'Epping Forest Zone' (Debden/Loughton) and 'North West Essex Zone' (full route) tickets.

East of England - Service 61 - St Neots Circular

We're pleased to be taking over the delivery of the St Neots town circular service; route 61. We'll begin operation from Monday 3rd June. Buses will operate to an enhanced timetable on Monday-Saturday daytimes with buses running from 8am until just before 5pm.

We'll be introducing flat fare singles on the route at just £2 for adults (£1.30 U19s). Day and Week passes will also be available and we'll be making all tickets available via the myTrip app as well as on bus.

Essex - Harlow & Epping Area Changes

Some passengers may have noted within the Essex CC Service Change publication for June 2024 that we planned to introduce new route 28 alongside making changes to existing routes 18, 20, 418B & 420.

These changes have been postponed and will now take place on Sunday 28th July alongside a larger series of network changes across the whole of Essex County. We apologise for any confusion caused in the meantime.

Full details of the changes will be published in due course. For now here's a teaser of whats to come:

  • Enhanced frequencies & capacity between Ongar, North Weald & Epping
  • Enhanced frequencies & capacity between Epping & Harlow
  • Enhanced ticketing range across Harlow services.
