Swaffham Flexibus+ Consultation
Today

Norfolk County Council are consulting on your views for the future of Swaffham Flexibus and the 10 Swaffham Town Service. Both are fully subsidised by Norfolk County Council but are struggling to attract enough passengers to ensure they are viable long-term. The Flexibus started in 2022 after a successful bid to the Department for Transport and this funding recently ended. We want to serve people in these areas with public transport but need to bring in more revenue to the services to do this.
As users, we are asking for your feedback on the services and what is important about them to you. We are considering changes as follows from September 2026:
1) The two services will be combined, therefore villages will have a certain number of stops in Swaffham on route to the Town Centre.
2) The whole route will run together as a fixed timetable
3) There will be no requirement to book your seat and the booking app on the current Flexibus would be removed on the new service.
4) All villages will have journey to work runs into Swaffham.
5) The early morning and evening journeys linking XL services to and from Norwich/Dereham and Kings Lynn using the Flexibus will remain, but possible for fewer villages reflecting current usage as follows: Foulden, Gooderstone, Oxburgh, Hillborough and North Pickenham.
6) The villages of Methwold and Northwold would be removed from the new service into Swaffham due to low usage, but residents can use existing alternative options to King's Lynn and Thetford.
7) Bodney, Cranwich, Threxton Hill, Ickburgh, Little Cressingham, Shingham, Didlington, Brookville, Little London, Eastmoor and the stop at Petygards would be removed, reflecting very low usage.
8) Frequency for some stops on the 10 Town Service may reduce, but key journey times will remain.
9) Some stops on the current 10 Swaffham Town Service may be removed being replaced by walking to the main road.
10) The new service will serve the new development in Swaffham on Sporle Road but will not serve Lynn or Norwich Roads as these are served by First XL services.
Additionally, we are also looking at the possibility of providing a Swaffham to Downham Service via Marham.
a) Would you use it?
b) What and where would you want it to serve)
c) What times and what days, Monday to Friday, Saturday only?
